Good points, I think you are on to something with the Samick connection.

Do you have any Samick made hollow bodies, non Washburn?   It would be interesting to see who made the pickups.  My 1995 HB-30 has Samshin pickups (stamped on back), which were...

I do, I have a 1999 SAN-450 but the original pickups were long gone when I got her. Now she's got a Burstbucker I in the neck and GFS Retrotron Memphis in the bridge. Good excuse as any to show off, I suppose!

The box switch, mini-pots, yellow braided insulation, the grey wiring and blue and red pickup leads are all very standard Samick stuff.

And FYI that's an '88 with the serial...

Hello,

Not sure if the feature you mention is design of guitar as it was introduced or revised added features.  I don't think it will hurt to ask information on the guitar from the person you got it from...  Ask if he bought it that way or it was modde...

That is interesting.  Here is a photo of the neck pickup on my 95 HB-30.  I am the original owner, purchased new in 1997.  The guitar was at a dealer in Michigan, and I got it with case for about $400 new.  The s/n  is Samick S5115498.

The pickup in th...

1998 J-14.  This is a very rare model, with only 40 made in the US custom shop.  The Washburn spec sheet says that "Washburn 621s" came with the the J-14s.  Howeve...

I believe I might have spotted the dingleberry who is making low-end fake Washburns, which suggests he's a dangerous idiot.  ???

Up for sale at Reverb.com is a "Washburn L115" offered by Windy City Guitars.

Good point.  They are running out of flagship models to hang their hat on in their line.  In addition, the perception is that the Chinese made quality of Washburn guitars is a step down from Korean and especially Japanese is not helping things.  The US...

They seem to be doing okay with the Jazz & Hollowbody series, though I to have heard of quality issues pushing longtime fans away.

That leaves four solidbody lines, with the Sonamaster being downmarket Nunos (though a sight better than the el cheapo...
