To me this is a good case of a whole lot of knowledge and science gets in the way of actually making music.  Get a el cheapo Snark tuner.  When the needle is in the middle, play the damn thing.

I agree that in most circumstances, the intonation problem is not enough to make a difference....tune your guitar and play!  It does, however, show up signifigantly when two acoustic guitars are tuned...
